This panel discussion will examine the challenges and opportunities of navigating the NH Legislative Process in the context of employment legislation. Each panelist has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share. The Legislative process can be intimidating to those who lack clarity regarding the who, what, when, where, why and how it is executed.
The discussion will include a review of the legislative process (proposed bill becoming law); understanding of the lobbyist’s role; the process for proposing employment legislation; the dynamics of how committees work; strategies on how to influence a committee or bill sponsor.
Additionally, our panelists will be able to share tips and techniques on what HR professionals should be aware of as bills are drafted, come out of committee, at the public hearings and so forth.
Understanding advocacy and the legislative process will assist HR professionals in identifying those individuals who should be cultivated as part of the professional contacts network outside of the organization and the ongoing maintenance and development of those relationships. Additionally, understanding the impact of the political environment on one’s organization operations. Finally, the ability to identify credible and relevant external information from the legislative process that has implications on one’s work environment.
